American Legacy--Our National Parks
PAPA's American Legacy exhibition begins its road tour this fall traveling through Smith Kramer Exhibition Services. The opening venue takes place on the second floor of the the 1911 Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center, 1001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA, November 5, 2010, through January 16, 2011. A variety of events are planned, including a reception from 6-9 pm on Friday, November 5 Additional venues may be viewed in the Press Room.  To view the entire exhibition, please go to The Haggin Museum web site, which organized the exhibit. A 92-page color catalog illustrates all the artworks from 35 National Park Service units/artists, including a historical essay by Jean Stern, Executive Director of the Irvine Museum. And the winners are ...
Frank LaLumia won Best of Show at the Aquarious National 2010 Watercolor Exhibition for Maynard Dixon Country (left). Raleigh Kinney won third place for his watercolor Hermit's Rest at the Grand Canyon Celebration of Art (right). 

 

 

 

Raleigh Kinney in Arizona
Kinney is participating in the Sedona Plein Air Festival, October 23-30, 2010. His work is alson view in Plein Air on the Rim, the Grand Canyon Association's exhibition hanging through November 28, 2010, in the Kolb Studio located on the South Rim.

 

 

Man Made
Knowlton Gallery, Lodi, CA, hosts a group show Man Made: Engineered Landscapes, through November 27, 2010. Featured PAPA artists are Joe Paquet and Gil Dellinger.

 

Fraser on View
West Fraser is included in the Greenhouse Gallery International Master exhibition and sale October 1-22, 2010, in San Antonio, TX. He is also mounting a solo exhibition titled Lowcountry's Ebb & Flow at the Palmetto Bluff Gallery opening on November 6, 2010, from 5 to 8 pm. Along with the exhibition, he is conducting a two-day workshop in conjunction with the Palmetto Bluff Arts Commission.  (left: Over There, oil, 11x14)

 

 

The Mitchell National Invitational
The Mitchell Museum in Trinadad, CO, hosts an invitational that includes PAPA members Ken Auster, John Budicin, Mary DeLoyht-Arendt, Gil Dellinger, Frank LaLumia, Kevin Macpherson, Ralph Oberg, Jean Perry, Gay Faulkenberry, Ron Rencher, Matt Smith, Brian Stewart, and Linda Tippetts. The show hangs through October 3, 2010.

 

Romantic Visions

American Impressionist Society
Scott Burdick and Kevin Macpherson are featured in the 11th Annual AIS National Juried Exhibition at Richland Fine Art, Nashville, TN, October 7-November 3, 2010.

 

The Poetry of Light
Kenn Backhaus has a solo exhibition, Painting the Poetry of Light: Images from Near and Far, at the Travis Gallery, New Hope, PA, October 9-23, 2010. (left: Sycamore, oil, 48x48).

 

Oil Painters of America
Kevin Macpherson is exhibiting as a OPA Master in the 2010 Western Regional Exhibition at Mountain Trails Gallery, Jackson, WY, October 9-November 10, 2010,  and at the 2010 Eastern Regional Exhibition at Walls Fine Art, Wilmington, NC, October 15-November 13, 2010. 12th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational
The itinerary for the LBPAI Soiree and Sale, October 10-17, 2010, is available at the Laguna Art Museum site. Ken Auster, Joan M. LaRue and Ray Roberts are among the participants.

 

Under Western Skies

Marine Art
Christopher Blossom is one of several leading marine artists on display at the Union League Club, New York City, NY, November 1-28, 2010. The exhibition is sponsored by J. Russell Jinishian Gallery.

Turning Tides
Don Demers is the subject of a major one-man show, Turning Tides, Changing Light, at Vose Galleries, Boston, MA, November 6-December 18, 2010. Demers' work is also featured in the exhibition The Subject is Light: The Henry and Sharon Martin Collection of Contemporary Realist Paintings at the Cape Cod Museum of Art through November 7.
