PAPA Mission Statement

The Plein-Air Painters of America is a fellowship of professional artists dedicated to the historic tradition of painting directly from life. Through this approach of firsthand observation, our members strive to more fully explore and respond to the timeless beauty that surrounds us all.

We promote a heightened visual appreciation of the world by sharing with the public our combined knowledge and experience through workshops and exhibitions of the highest caliber.

Policy on Membership

Signature Membership in the Plein-Air Painters of America recognizes superiority in the technique of painting on location and honors the individual artist's professional standing in the arts community. Applications for joining PAPA as a Signature Member or as a Guest Artist in PAPA exhibitions are made by invitation only. Unsolicited submissions for Signature Membership or Guest Artist status are not being considered at this time.
