PAPA's 23rd Exhibition & Sale A Success

PAPA President Frank LaLumia announced that the opening weekend events for PAPA’s 23rd exhibition and sale at The Haggin Museum in Stockton, California, were a huge success. “More than 300 collectors attended the opening on Friday night, and on Saturday, countless spectators watched the artists painting along Stockton’s downtown waterfront and then bid on the artworks in a by-draw auction.”  Earlier in the week, Steven Doherty, editor of PleinAir Magazine, gave a talk titled “Plein Air Painters: Crazy About Nature or Just Plain Crazy?”

Gerald Fritzler Newest PAPA Signature Member

PAPA President Frank LaLumia recently announced that Gerald Fritzler has been voted into Signature Membership in the Plein-Air Painters of America. “Jerry has exhibited with PAPA on five occasions, including on Catalina Island, at Lake Tahoe, and most recently in our 23rd exhibition and sale at The Haggin Museum,” LaLumia says, adding, “Jerry brings a lot to our group. He is a plein-air painter who has found his own voice in the art world—something rare in this day and age. His work will add a wonderful diversity to our shows, and his spirit blends nicely with the personality of our group.”

John Cosby & West Fraser are PAPA Signature Members

Frank LaLumia, president of the Plein-Air Painters of America, announced today that two artists have been added to the ranks of PAPA’s current 28 Signature Members. “We are proud to include two of America’s top painters in our group. John Cosby, from California, and West Fraser, from South Carolina, are both committed to and celebrated for their plein-air paintings, as well as for studio works,” LaLumia said. “Cosby and Fraser will add new dimensions to PAPA exhibitions and workshops in terms of philosophy, technique, and subject matter, while upholding the standards by which the group has operated since its inception in 1986.”
