PAPA Announces Video Series

Gil Dellinger, president of the Plein-Air Painters of America, announced today that PAPA is launching a new DVD series in conjunction with Streamline Premium Art Videos. “PAPA members are among the top teachers in the country, and in this series, painters will learn the techniques for bringing a painting to life even under challenging circumstances,” Dellinger said. Each video includes a step-by-step artist demonstration, an interview with the artist by PleinAir magazine publisher B. Eric Rhoads, as well as an exhibition of the artist’s work.

Lifetime Achievement Award Given to Denise Burns

 

 

On Saturday, April 13, 2013, the Plein-Air Painters of America announced the recipient of the 2013 PAPA Plein-Air Lifetime Achievement Award. “We are honored to recognize Denise Burns as a major contributor to the genre of plein-air painting in America,” said PAPA Vice President John Cosby at the 2nd Annual Plein Air National Convention held in Monterey, CA.

PAPA Celebrates Summer!

PAPA Adds Four Signature Members

Gil Dellinger, president of the Plein-Air Painters of America, announced today that four artists have been added to the ranks of PAPA’s current 31 Signature Members. “We have canvassed the country for the top painters known for plein-air and studio painting,” Dellinger says. “Kathleen Dunphy and Randall Sexton are from California, Andy Evansen lives in Minnesota, and Joe McGurl is from Massachusetts. Each has participated in past PAPA exhibitions and paint-outs, contributing unique subjects, styles, and techniques that enhance the quality standards by which the group has operated since its inception in 1986.”

PAPA's 23rd Exhibition & Sale A Success

PAPA President Frank LaLumia announced that the opening weekend events for PAPA’s 23rd exhibition and sale at The Haggin Museum in Stockton, California, were a huge success. “More than 300 collectors attended the opening on Friday night, and on Saturday, countless spectators watched the artists painting along Stockton’s downtown waterfront and then bid on the artworks in a by-draw auction.”  Earlier in the week, Steven Doherty, editor of PleinAir Magazine, gave a talk titled “Plein Air Painters: Crazy About Nature or Just Plain Crazy?”

Gerald Fritzler Newest PAPA Signature Member
